Sally Field's Anti-War Acceptance Speech
Sally Field gave another memorable acceptance speech during last night's live Emmy Awards telecast. But unlike her "You like me, you really like me" 1985 Oscars speech, the Emmy producers didn't much like Field's anti-war speech at all.
The Associated Press reports that after taking the stage to accept her award for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her role in the ABC hit series "Brothers and Sisters," Field began to lose her train of thought spouting, "And, let's face it, if the mothers ruled the world, there would be no (expletive) wars in the first place." Emmy Awards' broadcaster
FOX cut away the expletitive. Backstage, when pressed for further comment, Field said she didn't have any political agenda, and was simply trying to "pay homage to the mothers of the world, and let their work be seen and valued."
